What is Spirulina?

Spirulina is a blue-green type of algae that not only has a beautiful dark green or bright blue color, but also numerous health benefits. The algae is now one of the most popular dietary supplements in the world and can be consumed as powder, capsules or tablets.

What makes green/blue spirulina so healthy?

Blue Spirulina powder is extracted from the green Spirulina algae. The bright blue color is given to spirulina by the phycocyanine pigments it contains, which can have an anti-cancer effect. Spirulina contains many antioxidants and is therefore a victorious warrior against free radicals in the body.

Spirulina can help fight inflammation and boost the immune system . Blue spirulina contains fewer heavy metals than green spirulina, but due to extraction it can also contain fewer nutrients and vitamins than green spirulina powder. The phycocyanin can protect our cells of the nervous system, liver, heart and kidneys.
In contrast to green spirulina, blue spirulina does not have a potentially unpleasant smell and tastes less like algae and more neutral.
